These slightly connected tales are exceptionally good. The characters are well developed despite the short format, and the world-building is well done, without being overwhelmingly technical. The heroes are everything that heroes should be, and the heroines are strong without losing their femininity.

Bought by miner Brutal, she finds him to be anything but what his name suggests, and he finds her to be an asset in "The Miner's Wife." This is an exceptional, action-filled story that takes off with a bang right from the start. A first-rate mystery; a tortured, yet strong heroine; and a hero who is not too perfect will leave readers unable to put this book down. Included are some nicely developed secondary characters and the ending is very well done and satisfying.

I've been tagged ~ there are worse things :)

I'm actually flattered anyone would bother. :)
Since I can think of worse things than being tagged...I guess I'll play.

Here are the rules:

But, 8 things about me.


1.) I drink coffee every morning. Not a revelation to those who know me well, but it's true. And I prefer flavored brew with sugar-free flavored creamer and Splenda.

2.) The first romance book I ever read was Shanna by Kathleen E. Woodiwiss. I was hooked on romance from that point forwarad.

3. When I was younger I wanted to grow up to be Perry Mason. And my second choice was Paul Drake. If Perry sent him out to find a particular John Smith in New York City, he could do it. :)

4.) I've read almost everything by Stephen King. (the exception: I've only read the first book in The Dark Tower series) And I think he's very funny. :)

5.) I'm not a morning person. What a shocker! Just ask my roommates at RT. :):)

6.) Having to take time to sleep every night makes me cranky. Once I saw an Archie comic once that was set in the future and they had sleep machines. You zapped yourself for a couple seconds and got a full night's sleep. Call me when it's been invented. :)

7.) I own a ton of books, but if I see one more that I want...I'll still buy it. It's my personal addiction. And again, I can think of worse.

8.) I feel like I'm a very lucky person. I have a great family. I have fabulous friends. I live a life that at one time I only dreamt about (when I allowed myself to fall asleep) .

I don't really want to tag anyone, so I'll tag several of the same people Babe tagged. Two for one special that way. I'm getting thrifty in my old age too. ;)

The Closer is back

I'll admit I watch a lot of television during the fall and spring seasons.

In the summertime...not so much.

However, I love the TNT drama, The Closer starring Kyra Sedgwick.











It's pretty much the only thing I watch during the summer months.
Which is good because I should be writing anyway. :)

The new season of The Closer started last night. Yea!
And yes...I watched as much of the marathon before hand as I could. :)
I enjoyed the premiere very much. I'm just so glad it's back.

Any other Closer fans out there?

Lara Santiago captivated me with this adult twist on the childhood fairy tale ‘Little Red Riding Hood.’ This storyline is fast-paced, fun, and full of scenes that capture the imagination. Cheri’s bravado in such a foreign situation really brought this story to life and I couldn’t wait to find out what would happen in each new scene. I was fascinated by the obvious rivalry between Hunter and Caine and loved the ‘vibes’ of dislike that can practically be felt as I read. LITTLE RED RIDES THE WOLF is a delightful story that will have you viewing fairy tales in a whole new light.

Shopping with Boys

Shopping with boys is an entirely different experience than shopping with girls.
I'll have to look, but I think I may have blogged about this before.


If so, it still bears repeating. And I need to vent. :)

Did you know that you can find everything a boy needs in only one store at the mall?
Yes, it's true. I've lived it just yesterday.

I should be grateful that they actually walked out of the dressing rooms this time to let me see the clothing on them. I'm not always as lucky.

Last time security wouldn't let me in the men's dressing room to see for myself what the clothes looked like on them and they refused to come out. They told me what fit and what didn't. :)
This time my husband came with us. I brought him in as reinforcement because he can get past security.

For boys, there is no wasting time running around the mall for the perfect shoes to match the outfit they just tried on either.
No. Merely find the shoe department in the single store where you are shopping and they will pick something out.
Usually the first pair within visual range will do.
Do not whatever you do try to insist they look around at the entire selection. They won't.
At this point I just throw my hands up and give in because they are taller than me...and stubborn.

Here is how shoe shopping works for boys:
1.) Try one shoe on, refuse to stand in it and then argue that you don't really need to try the other one on.
2.) Threat from parent ensues.
3.) Eye rolling ensues from boy.
4.) Both shoes grudgingly go on.
5.) Beg them to stand up and walk around to ensure comfort factor.
6.) More eye rolling.
7.) Take approximately two and one half trudging steps, turn and presto. They're sold.
8.) Beg them to try on one more pair.
9.) No need to try on more than one pair, they insist. Arms cross in defiance.
10.) Heave sigh. Buy shoes.

This completes your shopping day.
One store, two boys, three outfits each, a credit card bill and of course a single pair of shoes for each shopper.

Someone hits a stop watch and bam, we're done in under half an hour.
That's right, folks.
It's all true. I lived it.

Hey Kristen, I need a girl shopping day. Soon!!
Pencil me in, won't you?

Girl shopping means...
More than one store. More than half an hour. More than one pair of shoes.
And I never once ever hear the distainful words, "Are we done yet?" :)

June already?

I've somehow wandered into June.
I could have also titled this, 'Long Time, No Blog'.

I've been writing on a new wip and editing the one I just finished.
The lazy days of summer are here. Life is pretty good.

The kids are out of school for summer vacation and for some reason that puts a whole different spin on my day. The dynamic changes when others are in the house with me all day.

And it's not because they bother me. Quite the opposite. They hide in their rooms playing video games, watching television and surfing the internet fearful that I'll pop in and give them some evil chores to do.
Laundry, Dishes, Vacuuming, Dusting, Trash, Recycle...I try to vary the chores between the two of them. And I already knew the chores were evil. I mean that's why 'I' don't want to do them. :)

I have aggressive writing goals for the summer months.
If I can keep the kids busy with all my chores...
Muwahahaha
...the book possibilities are endless.

Now if I could get them to do the chores without having to nag them...
I know, I'm asking way too much.
