What have I been reading?

I have been on a reading binge lately. Not so much writing is being accomplished and I worry a little about that, but sometimes as a writer, you have to take a break and fill the well again, so to speak. :)

I do get a chance to tackle my enormous To Be Read pile. (Okay, I have three of them. Bedside, computer and next to the living room sofa. A bad habit my husband must endure.)

I recently read this fabulous book, First You Run, by Roxanne St. Claire. It's her latest Bullet Catcher novel and I have to say one of her best.

Seriously, Roxanne doesn't know how to write any thing but amazing can't-put-it-down-until-you-finish stories. Her sexy heroes make you want to crawl in between the pages and get into trouble so a Bullet Catcher can come rescue you . :)
A physics problem I'm still trying to master. :)

The next best thing to being rescued by a Bullet Catcher is getting an early peek at the second book in this trilogy series. And I have managed to obtain a copy of Then You Hide.
Muwahahaha

I've read the first few pages and it is just so fabulously wonderful. Now you know what I'll be doing this weekend. :) I like to give myself a wide block of time to read instead of snippets of time here and there. Then You Hide deserves my full and complete attention.
And yes, the boys in my household will be scrounging in the kitchen for meals until I'm done. :)

What are you reading these days?

Books I can't wait to read

I adore Roxanne St. Claire. :) I do.
She is the kind of writer that I strive to be.
Writing the engaging, can't put down until you finish, satisfying books we all love and can't wait to get our hands on.
Sigh. :)
All of her books are simply fabulous.

To that end, I can't wait to get my hands on her next book called First You Run.
It's the first in a series arc trilogy of Bullet Catcher stories.
This of course means yummy body guards and awesome romantic suspense.

Check her website HERE to see pictures of all those scrumptious bullet catchers. :)

If you've already read her books then you know what I'm talking about, and if not...why then run don't walk to buy a copy of any of her books.
You won't be sorry. :)

I'm off for a weekend Writing Retreat...

again.

This is what my husband always says when I go away for any writers conference. "Again?" LOL

The last one was in October of 2007 in Cocoa Beach. It was great to get away, and hang out with other writers. Changing my environment, if only for a couple of days, always helps clear my head and freshen my perspective.

This weekend, I'll be in Sarasota, Florida at the Tampa Area Romance Author's retreat. They have a marvelous week-end planned for us. I can't wait. :)

For the next two days I'll be sharing a room with my STAR chapter sisters, Roxanne St. Claire and Kristen Painter. I can't wait. :):)

There will be a few bottles of wine in our room. Tee Hee
I predict there will be lots of laughter and late night chat fests.
Again, I can't wait! :)

I'll also get a chance to hang out with new Siren author, Wendi Darlin.
I met her at the TARA Christmas party and encouraged her to send something to Siren. Now she has a hot new book coming out called Cowboy Games which has a smokin' cover. :) Check out the Siren Coming Soon page.

Have a fabulous weekend.
I'll be back just in time for the Superbowl. :)

Back from Dallas and a new book at Fictionwise

I'm still a little tired from the trip to RWA Nationals...even though I took it easy yesterday. If you call an early doctor's appointment, mega grocery shopping and running my kids to work and back home taking it easy. :)

The conference was lots of fun.
I went to the Romance Divas dinner which was fabulous. I also went to the Passionate Ink luncheon which was wonderfully fun.
And over the several days I got to see all my friends from last year's conference. Yea.

My good friend Roxanne St. Claire won a RITA.
Woo Hoo, Rocki!!
A chapter mate Kresley Cole also won a RITA. Yea, Kresley!!
And my critique partner Carolyn O'Neill won first place in the Paranormal Historical category of the Beau Monde contest. She got to dress up in a period costume and everything. I'm so proud of her. :)

I still need to download the pictures off my camera. One with Rocki and Nora Roberts where I've been threatened with death if I don't send. Which I will. :):)

While I know there has been much discussion over the changes to PAN and Publisher eligibility during the General Meeting at the conference, I believe I now qualify for PAN. Woo Hoo!!!
I'll keep you posted. :)

Also, my latest book Little Red Rides the Wolf was released at Fictionwise.
Check it out by clicking on the link above.

The cover is a little naughty, but I love it. The story is my very adult version of Little Red Riding Hood. Hope you enjoy it. :)

One last note and unfortunately it's a very sad one.

Rhonda Thompson passed away several days ago. I got to know her at the 2006 RWA conference in Atlanta last year. I have one of her wonderful books The Cursed One permanently posted on my blog.
Not only did I adore her books, she was funny and a true sweetheart. She will be missed very much by anyone who knew her.
My prayers and condolences go out to her family.
