The Lawman's Wife

Siren's Top Seller (November 2006)

In 2078, two years after the Tiberius Group's take over, women are adjusting to the new laws that make them virtual property of the men who marry them.

Grace Maitland desperately needs to be bid on at the public auction to avoid losing her daughter Emma, the only thing that matters in her life.

Interstellar Federal Lawman Jonathan Brent never expected to marry. However, seeing the troubled young woman who has haunted his many dreams up for bid at an auction makes him overrule his common sense. He buys a wife for the pittance of ten dollars.

Having a ready-made family is surprisingly heartwarming after the life Jon has led, but Emma's biological father, a sexual vampire released from prison after the testimony of his only accuser Grace is overturned, now demands custody of a child he's never seen.

Jonathan puts his impeccable Lawman's career at stake and goes on the run to protect Emma and keep Grace safe.

Favorite Christmas songs

I've been in quite a few stores lately and the holiday music reminds me that it is December and the holiday time of year once again.
I live in Florida. The temperature has been in the upper seventies all through December.
It doesn't feel like Christmas to a born in the Midwest chick like me. :)
I love the music. :)

It helps put me in the right mood for the holidays when the weather doesn't.

Here are my top seven favorite tunes:

1.) Winter Wonderland
2.) I'll Be Home For Christmas
3.) Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree
4.) The Christmas Song
5.) Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas
6.) White Christmas
7.) Grandma Got Run Over by a Reindeer :)

(It was going to be the top five, but I couldn't leave out the last two) :):)

What songs put you in a festive mood for the holidays?

Spending a day with Gracie McKeever :)

I read a book today.
It was fabulous!!
And I'm not just saying that because she's a Siren Author either. :)

Terms of Surrender
by Gracie C. McKeever

Slany Breeze has been in control, of herself and her family, since she was an early teen when her mother was killed in a tragic accident and her father retreated into himself, a broken and lost spirit.

But Slany's tired of being the strong and responsible daughter and the dependable and inspirational big sister. Just once, she'd like to give over the reins of control and let someone else take care of her every need and want. Wanting, however, and admitting her secret longings to the one man willing and capable of satisfying them, are two different things.

Nick Vega has come a long way from his bad boy, rebellious childhood when a learning disability was the bane of his disappointed father's existence.

Once he discovers Slany's submissive nature and the stalker from his past that threatens her, he will do whatever it takes to protect his new claim and woman.

New Speakers

I got a new computer over the weekend and with it my husband bought new Bose speakers for me.

Rockin, baby!!

When I turn it up...I can feel the vibration of music through my fingers on my new keyboard.
Turn it down, you say...no way, not happening!!

Oh and don't call me...I can't hear the phone.
You know...if I'd gotten the sub-woofer I imagine my chair would be vibrating. :)
Hmmm.....

Dear Santa,
I've been a little naughty this year, but I really need a sub-woofer...

Muwahahaha

An On-line Class to Consider: New Year, New You: Writing Through Bad Stuff

CLASS: New Year, New You: Writing Through Bad Stuff
DATES: January 2-31, 2007 (register by December 30)
INSTRUCTOR: Laurie Schnebly Campbell
REGISTRATION: www.writersonlineclasses.com

Whether it's the first rejection, the 50th-book slump, or just not getting the story you want, frustration is part of every writer's life. For some, it's a nuisance; for others, it's the end of a career.

For anyone determined to make 2007 a Better Writing Year, this workshop offers both practical and psychological techniques for dealing with rejection, writer's block, motivation, and other issues that keep writers from loving their craft.

Counselor Laurie Schnebly Campbell looks at the problems BEHIND these issues -- ranging from exhaustion to resentment to fear of success -- and the ways in which writers can actually benefit from a temporary setback. While the practical and psychological "overcoming" techniques are different for everyone, you'll finish NEW YEAR, NEW YOU knowing what works for your writing and yourself!

I took a synopsis writing class with Laurie a while back.
She's awesome.

Eighteen Years Later

Eighteen years ago today I convinced my husband we should elope together. :)
Not wanting a huge expensive wedding, he greatfully agreed.
And I've been joyfully railroading him into things since. :)

I wish I could say we raced off to exotic Gretna Green,

or even flashy Las Vegas,

but we were both in the Air Force stationed in Arkansas.

We got married at the local courthouse in the records room. I swear our witness filed the whole time. :)

But it was a secret and therefore exciting and I've never had a single regret. :)
If I had it to do over...I'd do exactly the same thing.

I'd like to say Happy Anniversary to my wonderful husband.
Thanks for playing house with me. :)

The Flip Dictionary

I recently bought a book that I adore...it's called The Flip Dictionary.

I use it before, during and after writing. :)
It's sort of a combination dictionary and thesaurus.
It's great for when you are trying to think up an elusive word.
If you can find a synonym...you can find it in this book.

I looked up the word red the other day and found a half a page of choices.
Sometimes for fun, I just close my eyes, pop open the book, point to a word and vow to try an use it. :)
Look for the words retinue and scintilla in coming works. :)
